Storm Éowyn Update

Firstly, can I record my sincere thanks to Mr Trevor Gillespie our Caretaker (Temporary), Mr James Tweedie (school’s next-door neighbour) and the EA Grounds Maintenance Team who worked tirelessly over the past few days to protect and secure our school’s estate.

We understand that some schools have suffered significant property damage, while others are experiencing power cuts and disruption due to roads blocked by fallen trees and debris. We ourselves did have several trees (See attached photos) that fell into the school site but a concerted team effort by the above people has ensured that our school will be able to reopen tomorrow - Monday 27th January 2025.

The EA’s School Transport Service has planned to operate as normal on Monday, however, there may be some disruption or delays to routes as a result of damage to roads; we also have the added complexity of snow and ice forecasted for this weekend. For anyone availing of EA transport, any queries should be explained by contacting the Transport Helpline: Tel: 028 9598 5959 (Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 4:30pm).

The DE and EA’s decision to close our school building due to the impact of the storm on Friday, necessitated the implementation of the school’s remote learning policy to support continued learning from home for the children in our school. Thank you sincerely for assisting us with this exercise and we look forward to assessing the children’s ‘Storm Booklets’ tomorrow when they are returned.
